Bon Sai
The History Of Bon Sai
Bon sai is an oriental form of art that traces its origins thousands of years back to the ancient Chinese monks, who referred to the art form as pun-sai, which literally translates to ‘tree in pot.’ More than a thousand years after it was first practiced, the Japanese adopted the art form and then developed and modified it so as to create a version that is distinctively their own style of Bonsai Delivery in a very strict aesthetic.
The Japanese term, for which this form of art is now popularly known, means exactly the same as its Chinese counterpart. And after about five hundred years of being practiced in Japan, the art form has now gained popularity all over the world.
The Art Of Bon Sai
Despite the literal translation of the term, though, the art of bon sai involves so much more than just planting trees in a pot. Among other things, it requires the careful weighing and balancing of shape, proportion, harmony, and scale.

As a practitioner of this form of art, it is your responsibility to achieve such a combination to show your reverence and love for nature. What this means is that a plant placed in a pot does not become a masterpiece of this art form until you have devoted the necessary time, effort, and patience in pruning, shaping, and training it to achieve your desired shape.
Bon Sai Care
Take note that the trees used in this art form are not naturally small. Rather, they are kept small with the use of special techniques that allow you to control the growing conditions of the plant. Only those branches essential in achieving the intended design are kept, and all the others are trimmed off. Root growth is also controlled through periodic clipping and re-potting.
