Caring For Juniper Bonsai

Among the most important things you need to take note of as regards caring for Juniper Bonsai trees is that regular fertilizing naturally encourages vigorous growth. The healthy foliage may then be finger-pinched in order to achieve your desired shape. Finger-pinching is done simply by holding a branch between your thumb and forefinger and then pinching it off.

Remember to pinch off unnecessary branches before it grows too long, and be sure to pinch off side shoots as well. Be careful not to pinch off branches too hard, though, as that can cause juvenile growth or a case of ‘browning off.’

Fertilizing Juniper Bonsai

When you fertilize your tree, be sure to use a nitrogen fertilizer of good quality. Remember as well that this species thrives in bright light, so it is advisable to place it under direct sunlight for about four hours each day. Wiring needs to be done during the winter months.
